Colored Lens Helping People to Read

The most important thing in our lives is vision, both in the philosophical sense and also the literal sense. It’s been quite some time now that glasses made for blurred and deferred vision, and then the contact lenses based segment took over. This segment literally changed the way, as in revolutionized the way we looked at different versions of vision. There is one other important aspect where some colored lenses are being seen as saviors. 

This area doesn’t have the backing of the scientific research as yet, but some initial tests and a series of feedback has shown many a solution oriented positive stretches. Unlike what is perceived, there are some people who have problems in seeing because of the wrong-working of a simple yet effective part of their brains. This part, the visual cortex creates problems when it gets over-excited. Some vision related issues with respect to problems like migraines, dyslexia, nerve-related visual problems related to epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis etc are known to get affected this way.

Even accidents producing head injuries are capable of causing such problems. Memory lapses have also been associated with such conditions. The cortex works in such a way that it interprets information via the eyes. The cortex is like a dotted structure, where every dot constitutes a neuron. The neurons (nerve cells) tend to get excited after reacting to light. Here, in fact it reacts in a particular way in response to a particular color. Now, if there is a nerve cell (that is reacting to a particular color) which manages to fire more than required, these can definitely interfere with the nerve cells reacting to other colors.

This condition can create a rare problem called as ‘visual differences’ which hampers vision in the context of differentiating colors. A common example is when neurons reacting to blue light tend to over excite; here orange to brown type contact lens have shown a somewhat positive result in filtering blue light thereby calming the blue neurons. However this area (with respect to colored contact lens) is under extensive research but with a positive output, color lenses would definitely help people to correct vision (that is, they would be able to read).
